Heute war es soweit – am 5. Eventtag wussten die EFPT Rider warum sie ihr Material bis nach Russland geschleppt haben – und zwar jede einzelne Größe. Los ging es in der Früh mit überraschend viel Wind – doch es sollte ein langer Tag mit vielen Heatwiederholungen werden.

Um 10:00 Uhr Ortszeit stürmten die Fahrer an den Strand – der Wind war stark und alle wollten sich noch ein wenig einfahren. Als es eine halbe Stunde später losgehen sollte stellte auch der Wind, genau passend, seinen Dienst ein und das “Wartespiel” begann von vorne. Als viele Fahrer schon bereits aufgegeben hatten und den Neo ausgezogen hatten änderte sich das Wetter – und die Front brachte Wind – allerdings nur kurz.

Sofort wurden die Heats gestartet – und es gab einige Überraschungen. Adam Sims gewann beispielsweise gegen Mattia Fabrizi und Phil Soltysiak schickte Rick Jendrusch nach Hause bevor er in einem knappen Heat im dritten Anlauf gegen Adrian Beholz verlor. Den Elimination Ladder findet ihr hier.

Im letzten Heat des Tages – Julien Mas vs. Steven van Broeckhoven und Max Rowe vs. Adam Gavriel zeigte sich bereits dass die Bedingungen nichtmehr ausreichend waren und Race Director Tom Hartmann den Wettkampf abbrach.

Für morgen früh verspricht die Vorhersage nochmal Wind – allerdings aus der anderen Richtung weshalb die Wettkampfzone auf die andere Hotelseite verlegt werden wird. It had to take five days here in Russia until the riders found out why they brought all their kit, and by all we really mean every sail and board that they have in their quiver. We had some surprisingly strong wind but the conditions can certainly be described as ‘teasing’ for the large part of the day.

After days of unreliable forecasts and hours of waiting and postponing we were not disappointed today. At 10.30 the riders started rushing to the beach as several guys began to get planing on the water. Whilst everything and everybody got prepared for the race, the wind suddenly decided to drop and left us standing in front of what looked like a big pond. When the majority of the sailors were giving up already and were getting changed we saw a massive weather front coming in, bringing super strong wind and rain.

The competition got underway immediately and the riders showed some great moves and some surprises. Adam Sims won his heat against Mattia Fabrizi and Phil Soltysiak kicked out Rick Jendrusch. Make sure to check out the elimination ladder here. The conditions began to drop pretty quick and many resails were the result of that. In the 3rd attempt Adrian Beholz kicked out Phil Soltysiak in a really close heat – in the meantime the format also changed from “overall impression” to “best move”.

he last heat that got underway today saw Adam Gavriel against Max Rowe and Steven Van Broeckhoven against Julien Mas. After a few minutes it became obvious that it wouldn’t be possible to finish this heat as the wind began to drop..

Nach der European Tow In Championship in Podersdorf startet die European Freestyle Pro Tour nun “richtig” in die neue Wettkampfsaison. Viele Fahrer nahmen den langen Weg nach Eysk in Russland auf sich um für 10.000 Euro Preisgeld und die wichtigen ersten Punkte fürs Overall Ranking zu kämpfen.

Richtig viel zu berichten gibt es nicht – denn die ersten beiden Wettkampftage verliefen komplett windlos. Am ersten Tag wurde spontan ein kleiner Klettercontest organisiert welchen Adam Sims gewann und eine DIFFERENT Sonnenbrille abstaubte.

Mit Julien Mas und Steven van Broeckhoven befinden sich 2 der besten Tow In Fahrer im Starterfeld und mit Hilfe eines zweiten Wakeboard Boots geht es für das komplette Fahrerfeld in neue Höhen.

Heute gab es zum ersten Mal Gleitwind. Mit den größten Segeln aus dem Quiver pumpten sich die Fahrer in erste Sliding Moves und ein paar Böen ermöglichten sogar Switch & Powermoves. Leider blieben die Bedingungen über Stunden zu unkonstant für die ersten Heats sodass Tom Hartmann die Fahrer um 20:00 Uhr in den “Feierabend” schickte.

The EFPT season, after the Tow In Championship in Podersdorf, is now on. Many riders made the long way to Eysk / Russia and battle it out for 10.000€ and the all important first points for the overall ranking.

There’s not so much to report from the first 2 days of the event as there was no wind at all so the only action to talk about was a climbing competition which won Adam Sims who got sunglasses powered by  “DIFFERENT”. With Julien Mas & Steven van Broeckhoven, two of the best Tow In riders are in the fleet and both of them killed it – with the help of another wakeboard boat in a Tow In competition.

Today the forecast was looking a bit more promising and some good gusts made it to the bay. With their biggest sails from 5,3 – 5,6, the fleet went out and pumped into some moves. Race director Tom Hartmann decided to make announcements every 15 minutes to make sure the fleet wouldn’t lose too much time with the warm-up and the start – unfortunately the conditions never made it possible to get the competition underway and at 08:00 pm Tom Hartmann called it a day and released the fleet, as there were no signs of change of the situation. Heleen Muijsers ist ein neuer Name in der Freestyle Szene der Mädels. Die 29 jährige Holländerin arbeitet dieses Jahr in Porto Pollo im Sporting Club Sardinia ganz im Norden der Insel.

Über den Winter war sie auf Bonaire um ein wenig am Freestyle Level zu schrauben, denn im Herbst steht ein “Freestyle Heimspiel” bevor. Am Brouwersdam starten auch die Mädels und Heleen möchte auch auf Fuerteventura an den Start gehen. Viel Glück für die kommende Saison.

Heleen Muijsers - a new name in the girls freestyle scene. Heleen is 29 years old and coming from Holland – this summer she’s working as a windsurf instructor on Sardinia at the Sporting Club Sardinia / Porto Pollo.

Over the winter time, Heleen was on Bonaire to step up her freestyle game as she plans a start at PWA Worldtour at Brouwersdam and Fuerteventura. Check out her clip – all the best for the upcoming season

Giovanni Passani ist mit 17 Jahren eine weitere Freestyle Nachwuchshoffnung aus Italien. Er wohnt in der Nähe von Rom und erhält neben F2 und Hot Sails Maui auch Support von Raimondo Gasperini’s XRAY Windsurf Academy.

Sein neuer Clip kommt aus seinem “Hinterhof” – Leichtwind und Böen für 5,2 und ein paar Sliding Moves. Seht selbst

Der nächste Freestyle Clip ist draußen. Max Matissek zog es für seine letzte Saisonvorbereitung für einige Wochen nach Dahab, wo er mit Phil Soltysiak und Steven van Broeckhoven starke Trainingspartner um sich hatte.

Zurück zuhause startete Max mit dem Editing und eigentlich sollte das Teil bereits vor dem Surfworldcup Podersdorf fertig sein – heute ist es soweit und warum es etwas länger gedauert hat, seht ihr nachdem ihr den “Play” Button gedrückt habt.

The next freestyle flick is out. Max Matissek just uploaded his latest production from his spring trip to Dahab. He spent some  weeks there and trained hard for the upcoming season together with Phil Soltysiak from Canada and Steven van Broeckhoven from Belgium.

Back home he started the editing and we just have to say that it was worth to wait a bit longer. After you’ve hit the “Play” button you’ll understand why the editing took a bit longer.

Auch Steven van Broeckhoven zog es zum “Defi Wind” 2013. Der Belgier beendete nicht nur den Event mit Style indem er auf seinem Slalom Kit über die Ziellinie sprang – sondern konnte den bei den guten Bedingungen nicht wiederstehen auch auf seinem Freestyler Gas zu geben.

Direkt nachdem er den Event auf Rang 16 beendet hatte, ging es bei einer Soulsession mit Romain Pinocheau und Pierre Garambois weiter. Die Jungs geben sichs richtig – checkt den Clip

Steven van Broeckhoven also took part at the “Defi Wind” 2013 – he finished with style by jumping over the finish line with his slalom kit on a 16th position overall and straight after he went for a freestyle session with his mates. Romain Pinocheau and Pierre Garambois joined him for some sick moves in the highwinds of Gruissan.

Für Nick van Ingen startete die neue Saison direkt mit neuem Material. Von Starboard / Severne ging es für ihn zu Fanatic & North Sails – und mit dem neuen Stuff direkt nach Podersdorf zum Auftakt der PWA Worldtour wo er zumindest eine Runde weiterkam und bereits einige große Namen im Ranking hinter sich lassen konnte.

Wieder zuhause scorte er ein mega windiges Wochenende um sich auf dem neuen Material den letzten Schliff holen zu können. Der Shortclip der dabei entstanden ist sollte den Freestyle Fans außerdem gefallen.

Point-7 Black Team member Nicolas Akgazciyan zog es ebenfalls nach El Medano um sich, gemeinsam mit seinen Teamkollegen, auf die neue Saison vorbereiten zu können. Er hat es im April so richtig gut erwischt – sowohl in der Welle als auch auf dem Freestyler.

Nico checkte alle Spots rund um El Medano und scorte echte Spaßbedingungen. Wie auch für die letzten El Medano Clips ist Bartek Jankowski für dieses Meisterwerk verantwortlich. Checkt es aus – das Teil rockt!

As a member Point-7‘s Black Team, the french freestyler Nicolas Akgazciyan travelled to Tenerife in April 2013 to be well prepared for the first PWA competition of the year. He scored it EPIC for both Waves and Freestyle and managed to check all the spots around El Medano.

Arrianne Aukes schaffte letztes Jahr den kompletten Durchbruch auf der PWA Freestyle Szene. Im Overall Ranking kam die Holländerin auf Rang 3 und musste sich nur gegen Laure Treboux und Sarah Quita Offringa geschlagen geben. Über den Winter hat Arrianne wieder hart trainiert und zeigt nun in ihrem neuen Clip, dass sich dieses Jahr definitiv wieder zum Favoritenkreis gehört. Fette Goiters, Bobs, Konos und noch einige Moves mehr hat sie mittlerweile im Repertoire.

Arrianne Aukes finished last years PWA overall Freestyle ranking on an excellent 3rd position. She had a busy time over the winter and was training hard on new moves. Today she uploaded her new clip from Brazil and showing nice Goiters, Konos, Bobs and many more good freestyle stuff.

Looks like it’s gonna be an interesting season once again. All the best for that and have fun with her clip
